the weather home screen is a little slow but u cant expect it to be as fast as the leo cause of the processor. thinking bout flashing the newest energy rom just to try it out... also, it keeps asking me for the damn timezone every couple of hours or so..... getn kinda annoying.

LOL.. once you start, you can't stop.  I loved the Tess roms but I've recently (well, maybe a month ago), went to Cheetah.  Using the 2.2 version now (there's a 2.3 out).  It's even faster than Tess.  They're both really good though.  Tess and Cheetah are by far the fastest roms out there.  Energy is the most 'packed'.

this energy rom is very cool. most features of any rom ive tested. seems to be pretty fast too. i can say that this is my fav so far, prolly keep this one til somethn different comes out. energy rom is prolly the best ive found if u wanna use 2.5

new tess prime 1 rom- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=587119

this rom is pretty damn fast. i dont like it as much as the energy roms but the energy roms are just kinda laggy. they are full of features but if you want speed and 2.5 i would go with this new tess rom.

edit- already switched back to the energy rom. cant stay away!!

Yeah, I downloaded Prime I yesterday but havn't flashed yet (still on Cheetah 2.2).  I flashed to Cheetah 3 the other day but .net framework is screwy in it (alot of apps won't run) so I went back to 2.2.  I am thinking of switching to prime because of the updated base and manila.  What is it about the energy rom that is keeping you from switching?  I was a big energy rom supporter before I went to Tess and then Cheetah.  The speed/space improvement was just too big.

man, ive tried pretty much every rom available and i just like the energy roms the best. no they are not the fastest, but they sure do look the best in my opinion. that new tess prime rom was kinda buggy, idk what was wrong with it. i didnt try the new cheetah rom, but im prolly not going to now that you said it was buggy too. all i gotta say is big ups to nrgz28!!

edit- i also like having the start menu and buttons on the bottom. makes it look better and easier to use!

Ok, I'm flying high now.  Prime II... woo hoo (with max manila 3).  Manila is pretty dog on fast.  About as fast as 2.1 was and Max Manila just makes it pop.  Here's my 'base' setup:

Aman's Prime II
Max Manila 3 (honestly, I think I installed 3 but it 'might' have been 2.9 now that I think about it)
BattClock (I think it's up to 1.8 now)
X2 Taskmanager (a really really nice alternative to the htc one (the htc one isn't cooked into this rom so you are free to choose))
I use g-alarm so I have the hack to have the alarm from sense open up g-alarm.

And of course all the other little apps n stuff like s2u2, etc.

After boot, I have about 85mb of free ram.  Everything is running smoothly (animation in sense isn't jerky or anything).  My battery life has also improved (better than it's been in quite awhile).

The only thing I want to change is the dialer.  This one doesn't have the 'slide for more options' thangy.  The good thing though is that I don't have any issues when answering (on the last 2 roms I used, sometimes it just wouldn't answer)

Seriously... if you havn't flashed yet, you don't know what you're missing.  That was one of the big reasons I went with HTC.  So many more choices than I had with the incite.  I think I'd be bored to death of my phone if I only used the stock rom.

Hey Lee (since we seem to be the only one posting in here), you are running a NRG rom right?  If you are running a max manila version too, can you do me a favor and bring up the battery app (top right click in max) and tell me what kind of battery drain # you are getting (the Current).  It'll flucuate (damn... forgot how to spell) but it should steady out after a min.  On mine, when I first flashed and after my initial loading of my main stuff (s2u2, etc), I was getting around -50 to -99 type drain (which is way better than I've gotten before).  Now, it's usually around -130 to -150 which is closer to normal for me.  No real reason why, just kinda curious is all.
