Not sure if this is where this should go... but...

I just want to recommend a ROM for anyone wishing to flash their pure. ( T|6.5|ROM|WWE| ★ EnergyROM "Leo" (23016) Oct 11 ★ Latest Manila 2.5 / Twitter Tab)  http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562942

Been using it a few days now and so far so good.  Only con so far is that it seems to use a bit more battery than stock.  Other than that, it's been really stable.

i won't personnally use a rom from an older phone, the pure has been updated since the diamond 2 origanally came out. but another suggestion would be the tess rom. less custom, much faster, and uses alot less battery. for those brave enough of course.

I'm interested to know exactly 'what' has been updated that would be directly affected.  Like I said, I havn't had any issues with this rom 'so far' so I'd like to know what I should be looking out for.  When I first got my pure, I wanted to flash to a new rom but there were several to choose from.  None of them originated from a pure but I've seen no adverse affects (other than maybe battery life) and only positives.  The new manila is nice (although I've seen 2.1 updated with alot of the 2.5 enhancements without the 2.5 bloat).

Oh, and being able to flash from the sd card is something that is really slick (after coming from the incite).

well you say what can be affected, the shorter list would be what it doesn't affect (or couldn't effect.) it can't move your buttons on the phone for example. Wink roms can literally change everthing, you can swap the buttons to call to end n end to call or reverse the zoom bar. you can even completely remove windows and throw android or the new palm os (if u were that good Smiley.) the problems come with drivers and compatability. if you flashed energyROM most things should work since it was derived from the d2 which the pure came from. but the pure is newer so they could have swapped gps units or changed ram addresses or ..well u get my point. when you mix roms very bad things COULD happen. i'm simply waiting for a flashable stock pure rom before i play. to answer your question though, most roms simply get rid of bloatware, turn off services, n change cosmetics. battery life comes n goes with the rom build. if it's built to be "flashy" it will most likely suck the battery. if it's built for speed it most likely isn't running alot of services n ram. thus better battery life. anyway, best of luck to you. keep me posted on roms you use, i'd love to know.

Yes, I understand all that.  I just was wondering if you knew first hand of any changes that the pure made (hardware wise) that was so different than the original d2.

As far as roms go, I'm always looking to tweak, flash, etc.  One of the main reasons I went with a winmo phone.  The incite gave me my first hand experience with flashing and it took only a couple of days with the pure before I did my first flash with it.  What I have soon found out is that there are alot more 'chefs' to choose from.  Deciding on which rom to flash has become quite a challenge.  I will post as I flash to anything else (in fact, I've dl'd an update from the same guy that uses manila 2.1 vs 2.5 but with some of the 2.5 look).  I'm really tempted Wink

looking here i don't see any difference except the processer is a 7201a on the pure and a 7200a on the td2. typo?? i don't know but they look the same except the base OS, pure having 6.5 of course. i'll still wait for a reliable backup rom, but i don't see a single problem flashing topaz roms to the pure. keep me posted Smiley

link broke, copy paste should work...

Just here for another update.  Updated to the latest EnergyROM 10/29 w/Manila 2.5.1920 and WM 21864.  I have pretty much decided I absolutely hate WM 6.5.1 (when they moved the start button, etc to the bottom) so I am now trying to stick with versions prior to this.

With this ROM + Max Manila Ultimate for 2.5.1920, I have a very functional, nice looking interface.  Very very close to the functionality/look I use to have with mobile shell 3.  Battery life has improved from the prior rom I had (about 1.5 days of use).  Speed has been acceptable (although it doesn't score high on the spb benchmark tests for the roms, it doesn't seem slow).  I have not ran into any bugs (3 days of use so far).  I don't use facebook so I can't comment on whether or not that stuff works or not.

On a side note, Dutty has released a new version (what he calls, the 'Holy Grail').  I'm very tempted to try that one.  If anyone here has tried it, I would love to hear how it is.

as far as i can tell the only difference is the radio that hasn't been released yet. i can't wait for a stock pure rom, then i'll start flashing. i have noticed the more chefs for the htc than the lg, i'm glad for that.

Again... another update.  I've switched to the Tess 4.2 ROM.  Other than the startmenu icons used and the theme included, this rom really rocks.  I've changed my startmenu to 4 columns and the icons to match more my style.  Added a couple of dusk themes and using them now.  Max Manila works with this version of manila (2.5.1921)... it didn't work on the same version of manila on the energy rom.  Overall, the rom seems faster than the energy rom.  I really enjoyed nrgz's roms (just the over style he had) but I can't deny the tess rom just seems 'better'.  It's been a little over a week with it and so far so good.  Battery life is a bit of a concern but I think it has more to do with some of the other apps I have running rather than the rom.  First couple of days with the rom battery was good but I've done alot of mods since then so I can't blame it on the rom.  Still... after a days worth of use I usually have around 30% free.  I can deal with that.

Let me know how it goes.  I tried one of Dutty's before but had a problem with the location service.  Couldn't get weather to update etc.

Ok, just another update.  Running the Tess Leo I rom now.  So far, so good.  Much better battery life than 4.2.  All around quicker.

Dutty's Grail is awesome. Works great and is fast. Battery life is good, just like the oficial AT&T ROM. Weather update with no problems. Some regedit tweaks is necessary to adjust values like bitpool for bluetooth. The only bug i found is when i want to update my hotmail account trough Windows Live Services , when the WI-Fi is connected, always open the 3G connection. I'll try the official ROM of HTC Diamond 2 now. Review, next week.
