Ahhhh yes.. i have it on my phone but a lot of things won't work on it but it's a fun thing to play around with.  On my phone at least... no sound, no wifi, and no GPS and they JUST started getting SMS and voice calling to work so i'ma give it a bit before i go all out on this.

nope i didn't have to... all i did was load everything on to the SD Card... I didn't put it in a folder or anything just all in the root folder, then i started Haret and it works.  Still not with al the features and it does use my data even though i have it blocked on my Pure :X.

I've been watching these developments myself rather closely as this is my current preferred OS for phones. Android just seems to be so much more "free" in what you can do with it. But I am waiting for them to get it to about 95% workability before I try it.

Read up on this some more today, and I may just have to accept the fact that if I want an Android OS I will either have to wait on Verizon to expand their coverage into my area (long story) or PRAY AT&T wakes the heck up and makes available a REAL Android phone. Their BackFlip is handicapped from 3rd party apps, which means you're standing around with hat in hand waiting for AT&T to make some VERY useful apps available to it. Or you are waiting on various Chefs to cook up some work-arounds which may or may not function 100%.
Not that I am not happy with my Pure, love it in all honesty, but I am really interested in exploring the Droid World. At least in the Pure-verse we have some really knowledge folks that go out of their way sharing their stuff with us.

some have been able to get froyo running but i am using eclair...

What about Wifi?

I put Froyo 2.2 on my Pure.  I didn't format my card either.  I just dropped the files on the card and ran Hariet.  I went through the screen calibration, waited until it booted and voila Android!!  Wifi works if you turn it on in WinMo first.  I'm checking out Market now via wifi.  Works great.  I hope they get the sound and battery drainage worked out on it soon.  If and when they do, I may ditch Windows!  There are some neat features I like about it that Windows doesn't have.  GPS works fine on it too.  ;D

ugh i cant believe you got froyo on.... i did put sense ui on the other day but it didnt recognize my sim  card...
did you notice any improvements on eclair to froyo?
also in eclair i never had to turn on wifi in winmo first that i know of and worked fine... im also thinking of going with android but i dont think that any devices android will be as good as xdandroid...

I never tried eclair.  I just jumped right on Froyo.  It went on without a hitch.  Well, except I pulled a boo-boo and didn't read the instructions carefully about the screen calibration.  I didn't take heed to the little white squares that popped up on the screen.  I just kept pressing the screen in the same location.  :-[ Needless to say, the buttons were way off when it booted up.  :'( I deleted the files on my card and started over.  That time it worked great.

300mb probably isn't enough for it to run.
Didn't know they still made em that small....

I'm with Bruce.  I don't think you have enough space left.  Try taking some of the files off of your card.

i agree if you really want to try android i recommend backup all your files on the sd and wipe it android runs better without the extra clutter...
i am highly considering making the leap to android but i have a couple little hang ups,
they are as follows:

1. random applications start up with out initiation... even in sleep mode. (they can be closed with a task manager but will shortly start up again...) (this is a problem because android devices are great if they are not doing anything... as soon as applications start running it destryoys battery life... why?... most applications.. even android system  itself is supported by ads... and it needs the data to download and display these ads... only way around is not having a data plan or in some cases buying the pro version of the app will eliminate ads...)

2. you have to wait a long time depending on your device and manufacturer to get an upgrade to the new os... anything under froyo for the most part renders your sd card useless as you can not install apps on to it... use for media data only (music pics docs)

3. Android is free for device manufacturers to put on their phones.... because of this they do not have any minimum or set guidelines as to what it is capable of doing.... this quite literally makes the app marketplace a jungle to sift through as some apps may or may not work on your device.

4. my windows mobile phone can boot up into android if it feels like it... beat that... oh right... you can't hahahaha

but seriously i would recommend android to people to use.... Why?
cause winmo takes time to customize and get just right for you individually and it is not for people faint of heart to screwing around with the systems os and things that void its warranty...(win mo is a programmers playground...)

iphone...no no no no no never recomend ever....

android offers easy to use interface and customization as well as exponential growth in consumers who own it ...
number of people with winmo phones is dwindling...
for those of you willing to take a risk or leap of faith i recommend Windows phone seven series... due to launch in the holiday season this year...
