Hello all, I'm Matt.  I got my Pure about 2 months ago.  Since then (and even a little before) I had been reading up on it.  I eyed it out for the first time back in January I think it was and at the time was $150 at AT&T online.  Then it dropped to $100.  Then when I was ready to get it, it was FREE!  Cheesy

Anywho, I upgraded to the pure from previously owning a Samsung Blackjack 2 with WinMo 6.0 on it.  I had it tricked out with apps, but nothing modified on it.  I take that back, I ran an edited XML home screen on mine that displayed a bit different from the standard screen once I learned how to tweak it properly.  Other than that I didn't really mess with the phone besides loading it up with various apps.  I had downloaded CERegEdit back when looking up ways to tweak it out, but never ended up using it till I got my Pure.

So far with my Pure, I've implimented some of the reg tweaks posted in the "Pure Tips & Tricks" thread on the AT&T Wireless forums, and also actively use and run both Advanced Config v3.3 and Touch Tools v1.4.  Of course I got TT1.4 after I had tweaked the registry only to find out it had the capability to do automatically from a GUI what I had done from CERegEdit, lol!  it's ok, I'm used to working with Windows registry from my computer tweaking days.  So far within the past week, I can get my Pure to boot up to ready with 104mb memory free and 44% usage.  It does appear that my battery consumption is slightly better as well with some things turned off now.  I'm comfortable playing with the registry, but not yet messing with ROMs...  In due time though!  A couple nice informative apps I run on my phone at boot up is a neat program called "BattClock" which overlays the existing battery icon at the top, and will display up to 3 things, you can choose from the current time, date, main storage memory free, RAM free, CPU load, and battery level in a % number.  I also run another app called "BattLine" which displays a thin couple pixel wide line at the very top of the screen that shows the battery remaining and is always ontop of almost any screen.  I also run CleanRAM regularly to keep the memory "flushed" and minumize sot reset frequency.  Pretty helpful.

Hello and welcome!!

Wow.. sounds like you'll fit in just fine around here! ROMs aren't too scary, you just can't ever be in a hurry and follow the steps carefully.

Enjoy the site!

Thanks for the welcome!

I do inderstand that ROM flashing is similar to say BIOS flashing, in that it's pretty specific how it's done to get a successful result.  Of course there's the tough research to figure out exactly which ROM to get...  Wink

Thanks Bruce!  I did skim over it briefly when I joined HTC-Pure here, but I'll read through it more thuroughly.  I think if I had to pick, I'd go with a Dutty's at this point since it's one of the more closer to stock ROMs.  But so many choices out there, I'll have to check them all out for features and such.  Thanks again!   Cool

No prob. A little tip, the build number is important as the 219XX builds have the top bar start menu button, 235XX has the bottom bar start menu button, and the new 231XX,well I haven't seen this one yet, but it seems to be a buggy build at this point.  I prefer the 23569 build but the branch has stopped development unfortunately.

Energy ROM has the upper start menu.. and the 21xxx builds are more stable compared to his 23xxx ones. I haven't updated since May.. been meaning to but keep getting distracted.  Wink

I've checked out HTCPedia a little, and so far like how Duttys Topaz HG R15 [5.2.23569.5.5.0] and also how Topaz Rom - Oboe - Leo Package - 3.0WWE both look, pretty similar actually but Dutty's does definitely look a little slicker and cleaner.  They do both have the bottom start menu though, I guess i could get used to that.  Wink

Actually NhatHoa TD2 WWE Rom April02 build 21898 looks pretty nice as well, and sounds faily compact too in terms of content.
