get this... my wife and I each have (had?) Pures, up until she misplaced hers over the weekend.  So, being a generous husband, I let her take mine with her when she went out last night.  She got back later and said, "I would have called you, but I couldn't unlock it."  (It was showing the standard S2U2 slide-to-unlock.)  I tried and had to agree - it wasn't working.  That's when I noticed the large scratch/cut/crack in the top corner of the screen!  I asked her about it and she had no idea.   Huh I've got a phantom skin covering the screen, so I'm not quite sure how deep the damage is, but it looks pretty bad.  It looks like a cut, and I can't get any part of the screen to respond.  Unfortunately, due to our corporate Exchange policy, after rebooting, the first and only thing I can see now is the "unlock" screen for me to enter my password, but I can't get the keyboard to come up, and neither the Unlock or Menu soft keys do anything.  this is very sad...  Cry
No, I don't have phone insurance from AT$T.  I'm going to call them and see what they say.  First off, is there any way they can help me locate my wife's phone (which was supposed to be my backup!), and secondly, what will they do assist with repairing or replacing mine.

Anybody else got any ideas?

bad news.  they said that because there is "physical damage" to the phone, that it's not covered by warranty.  And, if I want to "upgrade" to a new smartphone, they will have to add a dataplan.  More bad news - I was told they don't even have the PURE as an option for replacement!  Sad

(oh, and there is "nothing they can do" regarding the location of the other phone Tongue )

so... anybody know of a PURE DIY screen replacement kit?

If you go to XDA and search on digitizer replacement you should find a few threads with instructions, screen shots and links.

yeah... unfortunately, most of them are for the TD2, but I suppose it won't be too much different with the Pure.  There was one post with screenshots showing a T-Mobile something (Huh) that looked just like the Pure, which has a cover over the bottom screws (just below the buttons on the face).

I might see how much the repair shops are charging, but will likely end up doing the replacement myself in the not-to-distant future.

On T-Mobile, the Pure was called the MDA Compact V  Perhaps a search under that phone might yield some better or at least different results.  since I've never heard of the phone on HTC's site, I thinking they sold it to a company that rebrands for T-Mobile...  Same exact phone though, basically their version of the Pure.
